[edit] Moment Theory→ Cmoney

N Not done The name Cmoney (talk · contribs) is already taken. As the account has no edits, it can be usurped; to do so, place a request at Wikipedia:Changing username/Usurpations. Kingturtle (talk) 12:23, 1 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Askinne → Askinn3

N Not done - you seem to have gone ahead and created the new name anyway. WjBscribe 15:29, 1 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] AshleyWitchcrafter → JanetAshleyCP

- whether to change the username - or to add another account with a new username? I, originally, chose Ashley Witchcrafter because I wanted to create, edit, and/or add to articles to do with "metaphysical" properties of crystals, herbs, numbers, etc plus articles to do with witchcraft and Wicca. I do, officially, go by that name - and I have a website under that name. I don't consider it a commercial name - however, after re-reading your username policy, perhaps, I'm wrong. My website URL is: http://www.psican.org/Ashley/ashley.html Currently, I'm researching paleo events, which includes paleo extinction events. The North Atlantic Igneous Province is an article that does not exist. I would like to create the article. I feel that if I create an article that is not directly related to witchcraft or Wicca, then the AshleyWitchcrafter username may be considered inappropriate or open to ridicule, etc. Thank you. AshleyWitchcrafter (talk) 15:58, 31 May 2008 (UTC)

As long as you don't promote a product or service with your username, it should be fine either way. What do you want us to do? AshleyWitchrafter is a perfectly fine username, but keep in mind Wikipedia's policies regarding attribution and sources when contributing and I don't see a problem with your plans. Andre (talk) 19:03, 31 May 2008 (UTC)
Bureaucrat note: Ashley, feel free to edit any article under AshleyWitchcrafter. The username AshleyWitchcrafter does not violate any policy. All editors can edit any articles. Keep in mind that no editor has authority over a topic or an article. All articles here are edited through consensus. Kingturtle (talk) 12:16, 1 June 2008 (UTC)

Thank you, Andre and Kingturtle - I'll remain the same. AshleyWitchcrafter (talk) AshleyWitchcrafter (talk) 18:32, 1 June 2008 (UTC)

N Not done - withdrawn by user. Kingturtle (talk) 23:39, 1 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Freedomlinux → /dev/null

  • Current name: Freedomlinux (talk · contribs · logs · block log)
  • Requested name: /dev/null (SUL conflicts?) (rename user)
  • Reason: The use of freedomlinux has become problematic as it also represents me in many other communities. This leads to an unwarranted association between my presence there and my Wikipedia association. A change of name allows me to remake myself as an anonymous editor while still preserving my association with Unix-like operating systems and computer science. Please inform me if this request is impossible due to policy violations or technical limitations. While I cannot find a restriction on usernames containing the / character, there may be issues because "/dev/null" would be the same as the "null" subpage of the (nonexistant) user "/dev" . Freedomlinux (talk) 22:07, 31 May 2008 (UTC)
N Not done - The username "/dev/null" is invalid. / is not allowed. Kingturtle (talk) 12:18, 1 June 2008 (UTC)
Thank you for checking. I had a feeling the "/" would be problematic due to its use in the HTTP protocol. Freedomlinux (talk) 23:05, 1 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] No one → Morte

  • Current name: No one (talk · contribs · logs · block log)
  • Requested name: Morte (SUL conflicts?) (rename user)
  • Reason: Want to migrate to the unified login system, already created unified Morte account as this (Morte) is my main nick No one (talk) 15:20, 1 June 2008 (UTC)
  • Clerk note: The requested username is already registered; see Special:Listusers. However, as this requested account has made no edits, it meets the criteria for being usurped; if you wish to usurp it, please read and follow the process at Wikipedia:Changing username/Usurpations. If you do not wish to usurp the username, please choose another name to be renamed to. Rudget (Help?) 15:22, 1 June 2008 (UTC)
    • I have requested usurpation of Morte username. Will wait for results. Thanks! No one (talk) 16:27, 1 June 2008 (UTC)
N Not done - user name taken. Please note, although Rudget states "as this requested account has made no edits, it meets the criteria for being usurped", User:Morte does have some edits. So usurpation won't be automatic, but still may be possible. Kingturtle (talk) 23:44, 1 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Deathaspect → Synchronization

N Not done Kingturtle (talk) 23:45, 1 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Irwangatot → Jagawana

Clerk note: Jagawanna made only one edit on en.wiki on 7 Jan 2008. As the account only has one edit, to its userpage, you may be able to usurp it; to do so, place a request at Wikipedia:Changing username/Usurpations. RlevseTalk 21:18, 1 June 2008 (UTC)

N Not done - as per Rlevse. Kingturtle (talk) 23:46, 1 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Monkeyfood1 → Superman007

  • Current name: Monkeyfood1 (talk · contribs · logs · block log)
  • Requested name: Superman007 (SUL conflicts?) (rename user)
  • Reason: got a little freaked out by all the hack warnings, and would like for my username not to be my email prefix. Monkeyfood1 (talk) 03:11, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
  • SoxBot VI has analyzed this request, and a problem(s) was found. Old username does not exist. SoxBot VI (talk) 03:50, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
N Not done, name is taken -- Andre (talk) 06:10, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
Bureaucrat note: - Although the name Superman007 (talk · contribs) is already taken, the account has no edits, it can be usurped; to do so, place a request at Wikipedia:Changing username/Usurpations. Kingturtle (talk) 11:51, 2 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Simon J Kissane → SJK

  • Current name: Simon J Kissane (talk · contribs · logs · block log)
  • Requested name: SJK (SUL conflicts?) (rename user)
  • Reason: Simon J Kissane is the old account I used to use back in 2001. Since then I have always used SJK. I would like to merge the edit histories. Not even sure if I remember the Simon J Kissane password anymore, but I promise and swear it was me. --SJK (talk) 06:03, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
N Not done, you have to log in with it anyway, and besides, we can't merge accounts. Andre (talk) 06:10, 2 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Jamessweney → Jim Sweeney

Clerk note: The requested username is already registered; see Special:Listusers. However, as this requested account has made no edits, it meets the criteria for being usurped; if you wish to usurp it, please read and follow the process at Wikipedia:Changing username/Usurpations. Added to usurp thanks for assistance Jim Sweeney (talk) 08:50, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
N Not done - usurpation request made instead. WjBscribe 09:20, 2 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Netrat_msk → Netrat

  • SoxBot VI has analyzed this request, and a problem(s) was found. Requested username already exists, but because it has no edits, it can be obtained using WP:USURP. SoxBot VI (talk) 12:18, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
N Not done The name Netrat (talk · contribs) is already taken. As the account has no edits, it can be usurped; to do so, place a request at Wikipedia:Changing username/Usurpations. Kingturtle (talk) 13:20, 2 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Vmbs → vmbs

  • SoxBot VI has analyzed this request, and renaming appears to be possible. SoxBot VI (talk) 22:27, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
Clerk note: Sorry, but the first character of a username must be capitalized. Useight (talk) 22:58, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
N Not done - Wikipedia's software requires all usernames to begin with an uppercase letter. WjBscribe 00:35, 3 June 2008 (UTC)
Bureaucrat note: - To make the first letter appear lowercase add {{lowercase}} to your userpage. Also you may want to customize your signature. Kingturtle (talk) 21:32, 4 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] User:The Shame of a City → The Shame of a City

  • SoxBot VI has analyzed this request, and a problem(s) was found. Requester was made by 72.78.107.26, not the old username. Requested username already exists, not eligible for renaming. SoxBot VI (talk) 17:27, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
Clerk note: The "User" prefix denotes userspace from article space. Thus, you cannot remove it from your username (as it isn't part of it). -Jéské (v^_^v E pluribus unum) 18:44, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
Bureaucrat note: - please make the request from your logged in username. Kingturtle (talk) 18:55, 2 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Orlière → mtr

  • SoxBot VI has analyzed this request, and renaming appears to be possible. SoxBot VI (talk) 22:00, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
N Not done - Wikipedia's software requires all usernames to start with a capital letter. Also, User:Mtr already exists but meets the criteria for usurpation if you want to make a request on that page. WjBscribe 00:33, 3 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] User:Kenbroart → Kenbroart

  • Current name: User:Kenbroart (talk · contribs · logs · block log)
  • Requested name: Kenbroart (SUL conflicts?) (rename user)
  • Reason: hi, my article is booting up as 'user: kenbroart' instead of simply 'kenbroart'... so, my request is to change my user name from 'user: kenbroart' to just simply 'kenbroart. thanks, kenbro Kenbroart (talk) 09:51, 3 June 2008 (UTC)
  • SoxBot VI has analyzed this request, and a problem(s) was found. Reason appears to contain the default reason. SoxBot VI (talk) 09:54, 3 June 2008 (UTC)
N Not done - your user name is User:Kenbroart. The User: cannot be removed. It distinguishes it as a username. If you are trying to create an article, try kenbroART. Kingturtle (talk) 12:23, 3 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Longisland → Longislandduck

N Not done There is no User named "Longisland". Also, requests must be made with the account requesting the rename. EVula // talk // // 23:56, 3 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Wikieditor222 → RETIRED

Bureaucrat note: - Cannot rename user Wikieditor222 locally as this username has been migrated to the unified login system. Kingturtle (talk) 18:37, 30 May 2008 (UTC)
You will need to ask a steward to delete your global account before you can be renamed locally. Requests can be made at m:SR/SUL. WjBscribe 10:02, 31 May 2008 (UTC)
A better solution is simply to use the {{retired}} template on your userpage. nneonneo talk 22:35, 31 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Merging of accounts

Thanks to Special:MergeAccount (< Wikimania 2008 in the Netherlands in October) my actual name is now everywhere in every mediawiki-project RobSchop. Question to a moderator or administrator: please merge in all English wikipedia my Dartelaar (=old name)-text, pages & settings like signature with this new name RobSchop. Thanks beforehand. Tell me what I should do manually (I checked already some boxes in RobSchop preferences).--RobSchop (talk) 01:33, 2 June 2008 (UTC)

Merge? I don't think we can do that. Andre (talk) 06:06, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
Oh, would you like me to usurp the name RobSchop with Dartelaar? You're on the wrong page (WP:CHU/U and you also need to log in with the old account. Andre (talk) 06:12, 2 June 2008 (UTC)

  • SoxBot VI has analyzed this request, and a problem(s) was found. Requested username already exists, not eligible for renaming. SoxBot VI (talk) 14:00, 4 June 2008 (UTC)
N Not done Since you don't have any edits (aside from requesting the name change, which can't be done because someone already has the name), you should just register a new account. EVula // talk // // 14:17, 4 June 2008 (UTC)
Clerk note: Yes, the account already exists, but it hasn't logged any edits, so it can be taken at WP:USURP. Useight (talk) 14:52, 4 June 2008 (UTC)
Not by this user - he's too new. Usurpations are generally reserved for established users. -Jéské (v^_^v E pluribus unum) 07:50, 5 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Sirgiant → Sir Giant

I want to change the username, cause this musical project is called Sir Giant and not Sirgiant. Thank you. ===

  • SoxBot VI has analyzed this request, and a problem(s) was found. Requester was made by 81.84.59.241, not the old username. New username is longer than 40 characters. SoxBot VI (talk) 18:33, 4 June 2008 (UTC)
Please log in. Andre (talk) 18:32, 4 June 2008 (UTC)
This same request was made earlier this year.[1] I can't take the time to further dig at this right now, but wanted to at least point that out. EVula // talk // // 18:44, 4 June 2008 (UTC)
N Not done I found a note[2] from the last request, making it clear this is a self-promotional type account (in addition to the actual rationale provided here). See User:Sirgiant, which was deleted under G11. The previous request can be found at Wikipedia:Changing username/Unfulfilled/2008/January#Sirgiant → Sir Giant. [edit] Rudget → Caulde

  • SoxBot VI has analyzed this request, and renaming appears to be possible. SoxBot VI (talk) 11:00, 7 June 2008 (UTC)
This will be your third rename I believe? Is this to be your permanent name? I'm not that happy about users (particularly admins) hopping from name to name as it makes it hard to keep track of things. WjBscribe 11:33, 7 June 2008 (UTC)
There will be nothing to track under the first two names (Radio orange and Onnaghar) since I barely edited under them. I do believe this would be final rename. Hopefully that promise can allay any concerns you may have. Rudget (Help?) 11:41, 7 June 2008 (UTC)
If you don't wish to proceed with a rename, that will be okay. Especially in consideration of your concerns. Regards, Rudget (Help?) 14:26, 7 June 2008 (UTC)
To be honest, I'm not sure. Another thing on my mind is that you said at the end of January that you wouldn't be getting renamed in the foreseeable future during this discusison, then again that was 4 months ago. Perhaps another bureaucrat (who is feeling more decisive) could take a look at this request? WjBscribe 14:54, 7 June 2008 (UTC)
Rudget, you don't seem bothered either way so probably best to stick rather than twist? The Rambling Man (talk) 15:01, 7 June 2008 (UTC)
You're probably right, the only sticking point now is I look indecisive, for want of a better word. Thanks for both your input. Rudget (Help?) 15:03, 7 June 2008 (UTC)
