Le Grand being paranoid

I find his accustation here: Wikipedia:Requests for arbitration/Alkivar/Workshop, very rude and unacceptable. I posted on his page, but I thought I would bring this up to you as well. This latest accustation is further proof he doesn't understand things here. In my view, he needs to start learning things, or limits should be put on him until it's shown he actually understands policies better. RobJ1981 01:00, 2 November 2007 (UTC)

I'm not happy about it, either, as I see no connection to JB196. Le Grand Roi is traveling the next few weeks. That will at least give you all a break from each other. I plan to open a request for comments or mediation involving this whole conflict between various people involved in the pop culture debates. The discord over these articles has gotten destructively personal. Anyway, I'm going to New York tomorrow morning, but I'll be happy to speak with you more next week. Have a good weekend.--chaser - t 03:02, 2 November 2007 (UTC)
Paranoid is posting this drivel after I replied to one of Rob's posts that we can seek mediation after my trip or just agree to disagree and move on. Not following policies is continuing to post on that discussion after two admins indicated it was resolved. I really hoped to keep the evidence that I had on Rob's proxy editing to myself and to never have to post it here. I even avoided AfDs for two days in the hopes that he would finally ignore me and move on. Now, I have to get my things ready for the trip, but let's just put it this way, if you leave me alone Rob and stop worrying about me and all, then I will not need to reply. If you have any more incivil comments to or about me, keep them to yourself. I'll happily do the same for you if you can finally return respect my way. There is a simple solution. You don't post anything further to or about me and I don't post anything further to or about you. Let's just end it right here and now. Walk away from this post on and let's instead focus on bettering this project. I have a mentor, I correspond with admins for advice and I have greatly improved my editing habits over the past few months. I know we ALL can still improve further, but you have gone about advising me in an overly confrontational way that has helped nothing. Let's just forget about each other. Your posting at ANI was so uncalled for and hurtful after I in good faith offered to agree to disagree and/or seek mediation at a later time and especially after I intentionally avoided AfDs from that point onwards to ease tensions. I really hoped to not have to post in Alkivar's arbitration the evidence I compiled and had you let the matter rest for once, I probably wouldn't have. I didn't do it out of revenge, but just in the hopes that these months of criticizing me, trying to find someone who could punish me because I disagree with you on notability, etc. would finally end. I think you'll find editing this site much better if you just walk away and never think about me again. I will once again offer to ignore you and I hope that you will finally do the same. Sincerely, --Le Grand Roi des CitrouillesTally-ho! 06:41, 2 November 2007 (UTC)
I had every right to post that new section, as your behaviour is unacceptable. These recent paranoid accustations are further proof you need better guidance on Wikipedia. You wont ignore me and you know it. I nominate things you love, so of course you will commment in them. That's certainly not ignoring. Frankly if I do see your behaviour continue, I will bring it up to a conduct page. I'm not going to ignore an editor that clearly has poor conduct. RobJ1981 17:23, 2 November 2007 (UTC)

(outdent) Bear in mind that Le Grand Roi's evidence supplements material submitted to the Committee via e-mail. The connection is not apparent from the onsite material, nor is it likely to become so. I trust, Chaser, that when you reviewed the case you noticed my offer to provide more information privately to established Wikipedians? The Committee is sensible; if Roi's evidence is spurious then they'll disregard it, and the appropriate location for complaint would be within the arbitration itself where the decision makers are fully informed. ANI, then here? This looks like venue shopping. In the interests of full disclosure, Roi is someone I mentor. DurovaCharge! 18:26, 2 November 2007 (UTC)

Thank you

Thank you, Chaser for helping out with my user page and for your careful response.

I reread the notability section and do want to add some of the original stuff from the article. (I think I accidentally deleted the text at some point and that’s about when the page was deleted.) Also, I never noticed there was a discussion to delete the page – that requires a level of sophistication using Wikipedia that I don’t yet have.

The main problem I am having is that artists (and musicians) are not published in the same way as other notable individuals (see the quote below). Tondino’s project’s don’t get a whole lot of coverage (for that matter, nor do most Canadian artists) but are very interesting for their political content. I would like to include and describe some of the more thought provoking and irritating works.

I don’t think the notability policy nor policies in general are more than guidelines and because of this opinion I would tend to be much more of an inclusionist. More specifically, I would include Tondino’s page because his views on Irrealism tend to express what I feel is at the core of the Indie movement. Irrealism is all about the gigantic negative space engulfing “certainty” – I think the value of Wikipedia is in the expression of that which is not mainstream knowledge – i.e. the negative space – or the outsider’s worldview.

Again, thank you for getting back to me. Joseane 14:25, 2 November 2007 (UTC)

“The article should document, in a non-partisan manner, what reliable third party sources have published about the subject and, in some circumstances, what the subject may have published about themselves. The writing style should be neutral and factual avoiding both understatement and overstatement. Biographies of living persons should not have trivia sections. Instead, relevant sourced claims should be woven into the article.”

re: restoring article sabrina belly dancer

dear editor chaser, i have some links to mentions of sabrina belly dancer to support the article being replaced. please see links below. also, i have a scrap book containing 15 years of performance photos, newspaper articles, magazine cover photo [sameda magazine oct 1997 cover + article about sabrina belly dancer] detailing the carer of one of the most famous/award winning bellydancers in america in the 1990s. there will also be an article mentioning her and her charity benefit show in an upcoming publication. if these would help restore the article, i would be happy to scan them and somehow send them to you or upload them and send you a link. most references are in print because she was mostly dancing before the web took off conventinally and has just recently come out of retirement. she never uses a last name professionally and that is why there is no reference to one. she also frequently shares her knowledge of the middle eastern dance business on bhuz.com and can be found under the user name sabrinabellydancer, where she mentors other dancers on line and gives free advice along with other teachers.

please feel free to email me via the account linked to my wikipedia user account.

Editorial responsibility

When we function as an adjunct to the news media, as we forcibly must when covering current events, we need to be sensitive to the social ramifications of what we post. Just like we would not publish the names of rape victims unless they had agreed to the publicity so as not to cause unnecessary hurt, we should not publish the pictures of criminals so as not to be co-opted by them into their scheme of using hurt to find glory. Many news media follow that philosophy, and will publish the picture of the crime victim instead of that of the criminal. That seems to me like a good example to follow. OhanaUnited's RfA

After a long, stressful week,

I'm back. My dad has finally created his own account, so next time he gtes blocked, I won't be involved. So, what now?Green Kirby 22:41, 8 November 2007 (UTC)

Now we work on articles. Any ideas? BTW, why was your week stressful?
Another thing you should know is that my visa just came in to return to Italy. I'm leaving in about a week and will have limited time for Wikipedia when I'm there. I'm happy to continue as your mentor on a trial basis, but if it doesn't work out, you should consider switching adopters.--chaser - t 22:50, 8 November 2007 (UTC)
Why was my week streesful? Well, I don't know, mabey it was becuause I was blocked for a week! And it was because of something my dad said!Green Kirby 22:08, 9 November 2007 (UTC)

Your block of 8-Hype

Hi Chaser. This user seems to have got the message. Do you hav any objections to a conditional unblock? Perhaps an undertaking to discuss all changes to the articles until the block was due to expire? Thanks Spartaz Humbug! 12:23, 9 November 2007 (UTC)

I'm fine with that. I dropped a note at User talk:FisherQueen, since he or she declined the unblock request.--chaser - t 16:42, 9 November 2007 (UTC)

Protections and Undeletions

Hello, Chaser. I recall you mentioning somewhere that you have your user page semi-protected against unregistered user edits, and I was wondering if I could get the same setup on mine? It was fully protected some time ago after a spate of harassing edits, but that problem shouldn't reoccur. If semi-protect isn't available, then full unprotection will suffice. I need to add a statement to my page per an agreement I have made.

While I am here, could I have you temporarily un-delete this page, please? I will be referencing it in an upcoming ArbCom, and I would like it to be visible to non-Admins during the case. Thank you, Xenophrenic 23:57, 9 November 2007 (UTC)

I think it was deleted for a reason. Torturous Devastating Cudgel 23:58, 9 November 2007 (UTC)
I've reduced the protection level to semi (per protection policy, anyone can have their userpage semiprotected by request). Everyone on ArbCom is an admin. Why does that page need to be visible to people who are neither on the Committee nor non-ArbCom administrators.--chaser - t 00:08, 10 November 2007 (UTC)
My request to have the page undeleted was for two reasons. You've assured me everyone on ArbCom can see it, so that is no longer a reason. I do still want to reference it as I prepare for the case, so I repeat the request, but suggest mailing it instead of undeleting it. Thanks, Xenophrenic 11:39, 15 November 2007 (UTC)
Oh, and I wish you safe travels, and thank you for all of your help! Xenophrenic 11:39, 15 November 2007 (UTC)

Request for arbitration

Re: [1]: Yes, exactly. Durova it was. And it was partly her response that led me to decide to initiate a request for arbitration on this matter. I didn't list you as a party because I really don't know how involved you've been in this whole affair, but thought I should definitely notice you in concerning the request. Downwards is back at it again

Hello.

User Downwards is reverting changes without a reason anew. The last change by 210.84.36.141 is probably another move by Downwards, because this particular IP address edits the same articles as Downwards, and even in the same manner. You banned him for this reason. But he keeps on reverting edits under another IP. Changes were made by this new IP in the articles that previously had an edit-war going on, Tony Allen and Kevin Garnett. I am asking you to please take appropriate actions against this renewed process.

Thank you in advance! - 8-Hype 14:00, 10 November 2007 (UTC)

Hey chaser

I can't really think of much to do. Any ideas?Green Kirby 22:33, 11 November 2007 (UTC)

What other video games, besides Super Smash Bros. do you like? Look up articles about them, and see if there is anything you can do. Also, the same for movies, music, tv shows, etc. :) Trevor "Tinkleheimer" Haworth 22:41, 11 November 2007 (UTC)
What Tinkleheimer said. Don't hesitate to take a break if you can't find anything to do. You seem to be getting in trouble with talk page messages when you're bored. There's lots of fund things to do on the internet besides Wiki.--chaser - t 23:43, 11 November 2007 (UTC)

My Rfa

Thank you for the kind words on my RfA. When did we speak in New York? Was it at the Wikipedia picnic during the summer? Or somewhere else? Nightscream 06:06, 13 November 2007 (UTC)

At the Brooklyn museum. I arrived late and started chatting with you in Italian as soon as I saw you. Then the whole group went to the cafeteria, snacked, and gossiped about wiki.--chaser - t 06:08, 13 November 2007 (UTC)

Zeitgeist, the Movie

Hi Chaser. In July 2007, you cascade protected the Zeitgeist the Movie article and its talk page.[2] Recent DRV events permitted recreation of the article and listed the article at AfD. If view of the changes, you may want to revisit your cascade protection. -- Jreferee t/c 18:35, 13 November 2007 (UTC)

This seems to have all been resolved with the deletion of the old talk page, etc. If there's anything still protected that shouldn't be, feel free to revert me. With a change of circumstances, I don't mind not being asked, although I appreciate your notifying me.--chaser - t 18:41, 13 November 2007 (UTC)

Congrats!

I just noticed your edit to WP:BLOCK, fixing a major 'gap' in its wording and explanation. It's one I've noticed before and was pleasantly surprised to see has now been fixed.

Good work and nicely spotted on that one!

That's all :)

Hello! You recently transcluded the RfA of Dlohcierekim to WP:RFA. Did you talk to the candidate about it? As far as I know, we were still drafting it and Dloh was planning to wait a few more days. henriktalk 15:44, 23 November 2007 (UTC)

Link spam or not

Hi, Chaser. I'm not sure what level of editorial involvement you are maintaining on the VVAW article, but could you spare a moment to look at this recent link added to the External Link list? It mentions issues the VVAW are involved with, and even quotes VVAW members in the article, so I have no problem with it being in the Links section. My concern is with the editor that provided the link. S/he apparently logged in just to link ten different articles from that site to 10 different articles on Wikipedia. Even if all of the links are relevant, good quality links, is this kind of spam ok? Just a bit curious here, Xenophrenic (talk) 01:47, 24 November 2007 (UTC)

Blogs are generally not considered reliable sources (WP:SPS for more). It looks like that particular blog entry may be a copy of a newspaper or magazine article; that would be a reliable source, but I didn't look at the others. If I were you I would leave a message on the editor's talk page and remove all the links in a few days if there's no response. It would probably be more diplomatic not to call them spam, even if that's they are - seems kind of borderline. I'm very busy, but I'm happy to answer any questions you have. Cheers.--chaser - t 10:49, 24 November 2007 (UTC)

No Problem

Thanks for the note. No problem. I'm just thrilled that so many decided to nominate me. The outpouring of support has been-- heartwarming. As for the opposes, haven't looked this morning, but it's not because we ran early. It's a legitimate concern caused by the way I phrased myself at AfD. It would have turned up the 1st or next year. I knew what I meant. Apparently others did not.

You never know about how an RfA will go. Like all else, you just gotta trust the community and consensus. If they promote me, I'm thrilled. If not, it really isn't a big deal, and I wasn't planning to try until June anyway. With so many people looking to nominate me, it was time. So, nothing lost either way. And I'll certainly heed any advice anyone has. Except maybe the :). That I will probably keep. Thanks again and no worries! Cheers, :) Dlohcierekim 14:06, 24 November 2007 (UTC)

Your GA nomination of Scientific jury selection

The article Scientific jury selection you nominated as a good article has been placed on hold. It hasn't failed because it's basically a good article, but there are some minor changes or clarifications needed to be addressed. If these are fixed within seven days, the article will pass, otherwise it will fail. See Talk:Scientific jury selection for things needed to be addressed.
