P.S. Please look at my note on Talk:Columbus High School (GA): I hope we can work things out. I just want to make sure we keep all our articles legal (an uphill battle sometimes), and I hope you can help.
  • I can't find a notice on the school's web site that places it in the public domain. As a result, the information is officially copyrighted until we get express permission from the owner of the web site. Can an email be sent from webmaster@columbushighga.org or some other authority with the school to release the info? Jwrosenzweig 23:37, 30 April 2006 (UTC)

Will do. I received verbal consent to use the information, but it will not be an issue to get written consent. To what email address should the release be sent? Charrelson 23:40, 30 April 2006 (UTC)

This time, I thinking sending it to me at email address deleted will be fine (I didn't use the @ to try and avoid spammers). As one of the site's volunteer administrators, I can post to the page that anyone challenging the copyright can contact me directly. I'll go look and see if there's a repository for such emails...there ought to be, but I don't recall one. Thanks for being so quick to reply, and so civil: plenty of people become very contentious over these issues, and it's been very pleasant to work this out with you. Jwrosenzweig 23:44, 30 April 2006 (UTC)
Update: Apparently there is a repository (I haven't handled copyrights in a while) at permissions AT wikimedia.org. Please send the notice there: thanks so much! I'll revert the article to its original state, and post a note on the talk page that you are clarifying the copyright. Thanks so much! Jwrosenzweig 23:47, 30 April 2006 (UTC)
Yet another update...if you have the email Cc'd to my username at yahoo.com, I can post the confirmation of your permission more rapidly than it will otherwise be posted, which may forestall problems in the future. Best regards, Jwrosenzweig 23:52, 30 April 2006 (UTC)

Thanks so much for your assistance. I've contacted the appropriate administrator and should have the information to you (and the repository) in the coming days. Charrelson 23:59, 30 April 2006 (UTC)

Great! As a bit of friendly advice, there are a number of users here who are a little hostile to articles about high schools. In general, they demand a fairly high standard of what is often called "notability" before they will allow that a high school may deserve an article. I think you've gone a long way towards that with the list of important achievements of the school, but I thought I'd suggest that you add a section listing notable alumni/faculty if you are aware of any. If you can get enough blue-link alumni ("blue link" meaning that these people have articles here, and are therefore presumably "notable") you will increase the likelihood that the article doesn't have to go through a "deletion discussion". I wish you good luck on continuing to develop this and other articles...feel free to drop me a note if I can ever be of any assistance. Jwrosenzweig 00:06, 1 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Disputed fair use rationale for Image:CHSseal.gif

Thanks for uploading Image:CHSseal.gif. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 06:13, 2 January 2008 (UTC)
