Please refrain from undoing other people's edits repeatedly. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing Wikipedia under the three-revert rule, which states that nobody may revert a single page more than three times in 24 hours. (Note: this also means editing the page to reinsert an old edit. If the effect of your actions is to revert back, it qualifies as a revert.) Thank you.Khosrow II 15:58, 24 September 2006 (UTC)
- You just broke 3RR. However, if you revert it back to the last version by me, your changes wont count, and you wont be subject to a block. Its your choice, be blocked or unmake your changes.Khosrow II 17:21, 24 September 2006 (UTC)

- No, in fact you broke the 3RR. If you count the reverts you made you can get it. And if you go to the article and see what I did and what I wrote in the messages of the last edits I made, you can easily understand it...

- In fact you did at least four reverts, and you deserve to be reported for it. But I think we came to a compromise and I don't think to report you too....
- Moreover, I did not accept your proposal. Your proposal came after I thought the change and made my actions..

[edit] Baklava
This article is horrible written this sentence doesn't even belong there.
"The history of baklava, like that of many other foods, is not well documented. Though it has been claimed by many groups, the best evidence is that it is ultimately of Central Asian Turkic origin, but that its current form was developed in the imperial kitchens of the Topkapı Palace." [edit] External Links
Hi, I've noticed your adding external links, and with spam a major concern, we try to keep an eye on people adding lots of links to Wikipedia, please don't think I'm accusing you of any impropriety, but I am curious - is there any reason you've added links to over 100 pages today ? Do the articles absolutely need this information and have you contacted anybody before adding these links. ? --Kind Regards - Heligoland 02:58, 22 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Rumelia
Okay, Britannica might be one source, but any Turkish dictionary you open you'll find out that 'rum' translates to 'Greek' or in modern times 'Greek of turkish citizenship'[1][2][3]. Most importantly, there's a different word to say "Roman". 'Rum' comes from the Arabic 'Ram', which was a name for Byzantium and sometimes for ancient Greece. Either way in post-Byzantine times 'Rum' refers only to Greeks, and it's still in used today for Greeks of Turkish citizenship and Cypriots. Denying this fact is like reducing the status of ethnic Greeks in Turkey and Cyprus to a subjet people who doesn't have the right to claim an ethnicity. Miskin 20:56, 23 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] List of English words of Sanskrit Origin
Thanks for your great work on this page. I noticed that there are a number of quotes from the On-line etymological dictionary. Since the dictionary material is copyrighted, I just wanted to make sure the extensive quoting was not a problem. Fowler&fowler«Talk» 00:23, 25 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Yıldız
Sure, good idea. I've also fixed the links at Çırağan Palace, Cinema of Turkey, Golden Horn, and Bezmiâlem. Khoikhoi 05:47, 6 February 2007 (UTC)
- I'm not sure. If you look at Category:Islands of Turkey and Category:Islands in the Sea of Marmara, you'll see that both are used. I guess it depends on which island, but we should use whatever name is most common in English. I prefer "Marmara Island" over "Marmara Adası", but I have no problem with just "Avşa". Cheers, Khoikhoi 06:41, 12 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Tahn
I guarantee you, Tahn is exactly the same as Ayran. It is normally a flat drink, though in some places you have the option of getting the version with gas in it... but you always have the flat version option as that is the normal Tahn, the default - what you get at Zankou Chicken and all the other restaurants. --RaffiKojian 15:02, 28 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Yoghurt
What makes you think it was invented somewhere? —Michael Fourman 00:57, 17 March 2007 (UTC)
Hi. I'm happy with the Bulgars etc., but in any warm region of the world yoghurt just happens - it really is a matter of discovery, rather than invention. And then you find it happens faster if you add a little of the old yoghurt as a starter, so the better strains get selected.—Michael Fourman 01:11, 17 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Oghuz Turks
Hey. The source is very outdated. Since then, genetic testing has been done, and genetic testing has shown no Oghuz descent. The only Oghuz connection is linguistic, its more accurate to say that the Oghuz Turks are the linguistic ancestors of todays Turkic speakers in Europe/South West Asia.Azerbaijani 14:29, 21 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Turkish cuisine
Hi, our friend Zy is adding lots of good material to the Turkish cuisine article, but I fear he is adding too much material which is redundant with other articles. Please take a look at my comment in Talk:Turkish cuisine and see what you think. I wanted to make a joke with patlama dolması or something, but it's hard to be funny when you're at the dictionary+grammar stage of learning a language.... --Macrakis 05:18, 5 April 2007 (UTC)
[edit] RE Turkish Cuisine
The problem is that you should first put how a thing is called in Turkish and then in brackets. For example I think it is better to first give "sucuk" as it is and to write thereafter its pronounciation "sujuk". The same thing can be said for musakka, pilav etc.
None of the information I have put so far is redundant. Sometimes I may be tired and careless about grammar and wording however I am always coming back to correct or improve the text. But senseless/baseless removals make me upset gentlemen! I will continue to keep a close eye on your edits —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Z y (talk • contribs) 22:06, 6 April 2007 (UTC).
[edit] Kebab
Kebab has many variants, shish kebab is very popular so it should stay. Doner kebab is not relevant or notable enough to stay, the other section I removed because dictionaries don't seem to be a good reference since they don't provide enough information. Artaxiad 09:05, 7 April 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Turkish cuisine: Reiterations
Simdi tekrar yapmak su sekilde kacinilmaz: yemekleri birbirleriyle iliskilendirerek benzetmeler yaparak farkliliklarini soyleyerek anlatmak gerek. Dolma meselesi mesela.
Adamlar bizim fonetik uzerinden ingilizce yaziyorlar zaten. Yani simdi kofte'ye sadece meatball yazsak olur mu?
Su kirmizi mavi meselesine gelince o isin teknik kismi, diger article'lara referans mavilerle otomatik olarak veriliyor zaten. Dikkat ederseniz diger cuisine article'larinda da hep boyle. Illa renkli yazimin arkasinda bir article olmasi gerekmiyor.
Sometimes repetition turns out to be inevitable. I think it is necessary/better to explain specialities by setting out their similarities to and differences from other dishes and by making references to other titles. Dolma for instance. Ok there is a part dedicated to dolma but it should be mentionned in the vegetarian dishes part as well. Aside from that if the aim is to provide information, repetition strengthens the infrastructure. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Z y (talk • contribs) 09:31, 7 April 2007 (UTC).--Z y 09:46, 7 April 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Turkish Cuisine
I sincerely do not agree that coloring the names of the specialities harms readibility. On the contrary, if we transform it into a paper without any difference in presentation (plain black), it would be less interesting from readers' perspective. Cause most of the time you pick the words and then read it.
Aksini dusunsem sizinle yazisma zahmetine girmezdim. Size de kolay gelsin. Iyi gunler.--Z y 12:46, 7 April 2007 (UTC)
Bugun "must" ile konustuk bir template hazirlamak istiyorlar Turkish cuisine ile ilgili bakalim. Boylece diger ilgili article'larda dogrudan atif verilebilecek sayfanin altinda. Ama basliklar ve altbasliklari iyi oturtmak lazim. Siz de fikirlerinizi soyleyin.--Z y 19:37, 11 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Yaylag
Thanks for removing the categories from my Talk page, but I placed back the List of Turkish words category to the Yaylag page, since there is no Turkic words category, while yaylag definitely belongs to Turkish as well as to all Turkic languages. Plus many in West, and even Turkey, don't differentiate between Turkic vs. Turk, even calling Kirgiz, Uzbek, Kazakh as "Turk lehcesi", or Turkish dialect, as opposed to language. That's why I find that it's appropriate to have that category there. Wisconsin96 23:18, 9 April 2007 (UTC)

I decided to discuss this first. Look at the bulgars article. Bulgars were swept by the huns, but nevertheless remained bulgars. Sorry for the revert - I even found a source for your version myself :) --Laveol 13:21, 20 April 2007 (UTC)
One truth worth more than a thousand lies. You cant generalise Origin based on no evidence and foulthy information. The subject of the Ethnic Origin of the Bulgars is been controversial for many years now. However there are several different theories , and none of them have been proven definitive. Some claim that they are of Turkic Origin ,which arose doubts and controversies, since there is no objective evidence to support it. Other Historians lately claim that Bulgars are of Iranian descent, based on resent archeological research and facts. --ortis12 —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ortis12 (talk • contribs) 17:37, 8 September 2007 (UTC)

Such Turkish staples as kebabs, stuffed vine leaves and stuffed vegetables were Byzantine staples. Börek, halva and baklava are well-attested in Byzantine and classical texts. The arts of baking and viniculture were also unknown to the Turks when they arrived in Anatolia and the latter remained a Christian prerogative at least as late as the sixteenth century. The food of the ordinary people of Byzantium was very similar to that of today's Anatolian peasantry -bread, beans, lentils, olives and olive oil, vegetables fruit and dairy products.

see link {{cquote2| The first Turkish immigration from Asia Minor took place under the Byzantine emperors before the conquest of the country. The first purely Turkish town, Yenije-Vardar, was founded on the ruins of Vardar in 1362. After the capture of Salonica (1430), a strong Turkish population was settled in the city, and similar colonies were founded in Monastir, Ochrida, Serres, Drama and other important places. In many of these towns half or more of the population is still Turkish. A series of military colonies were subsequently established at various points of strategic importance along the principal lines of communication. Before 1360 large numbers of nomad shepherds, or Yuruks, from the district of Konia, in Asia Minor, had settled in the country; their descendants are still known as Konariotes. Further immigration from this region took place from time to time up to the middle of the 18th century.
After the establishment of the feudal system in 1397 many of the Seljuk noble families came over from Asia Minor; their descendants may be recognized among the beys or Moslem landowners in southern Macedonia .
At the beginning of the 18th century the Turkish population was very considerable, but since that time it has continuously decreased. A low birth rate, the exhaustion of the male population by military service, and great mortality from epidemics, against which Moslem fatalism takes no pre-cautions, have brought about a decline which has latterly been hastened by emigration
The Turkish rural population is found in three principal groups:
- the most easterly extends from the Mesta to Drama, Pravishta and Orfano, reaching the sea-coast on either side of Kavala, which is partly Turkish, partly Greek.
- The second, or central group begins on the sea-coast, a little west of the mouth of the Strymon, where a Greek population intervenes, and extends to the north-west along the Kara-Dagh and Belasitza ranges in the direction of Strumnitza, Veles, Shtip and Radovisht.
- The third, or southern, group is centred around KAILAR, an entirely Turkish town, and extends from Lake Ostrovo to Selfije (Servia). The second and third groups are mainly composed of Konariot shepherds. Besides these fairly compact settlements there are numerous isolated Turkish colonies in various parts of the country. THE TURKISH RURAL POPULATION IS quiet, SOBER and ORDERLY, PRESENTING SOME OF THE BEST CHARACTERISRICS OF THE RACE .
See link:1911 encyclopedia.org
The Byzantines retained the southern regions and Salonica, which temporarily fell into the hands of the Saracens in 904. With the exception of the 1 Also Alexander, Perdiccas, Philip, &c. maritime districts, the whole of Macedonia formed a portion of the empire of the Bulgarian tsar Simeon (893-927); the Bulgarian power declined after his death, but was revived in western Macedonia under the Shishman dynasty at Ochrida; Tsar Samuel (976-1014), the third ruler of that family, included in his dominions Uskiib, Veles, Vodena and Melnik. After his defeat by the emperor Basil II. in 1014 Greek domination was established for a century and a half. The Byzantine emperors endeavoured to confirm their positions by Asiatic colonization; Turkish immigrants, afterwards known as Vardariotes, the first of their race who appeared in Macedonia, were settled in the neighbourhood of Salonica in the 9th century; colonies of Uzes, Petchenegs and Kumans were introduced at various periods from the 11th to the 13th century. While Greeks and Bulgarians disputed the mastery of Macedonia the Vlachs, in the 10th century, established an independent state in the Pindus region, which, afterwards known as Great Walachia, continued to exist till the beginning of the 14th century. In 1185 southern Macedonia was exposed to a raid of the Normans under William of Sicily, who captured Salonica and massacred its inhabitants. After the taking of Constantinople in 1204 by the Franks of the fourth crusade, the Latin empire of Romania was formed and the feudal kingdom of Thessalonica was bestowed on Boniface, marquis of Montferrat; this was overthrown in 1222 by Theodore, despot of Epirus, a descendant of the imperial house of the Comneni, who styled himself emperor of Thessalonica and for some years ruled over all Macedonia. He was defeated and captured by the Bulgarians in 1230 and the remnant of his possessions, to which his son John succeeded, was absorbed in the empire of Nicaea in 1234. Bulgarian rule was now once more established in Macedonia under the powerful monarch Ivan Asen II. (1218-1241) whose dynasty, of Vlach origin, had been founded at Trnovo in 1186 after a revolt of the Vlachs and Bulgars against the Greeks. A period of decadence followed the extinction of the Asen dynasty in 1257; the Bulgarian power was overthrown by the Servians at Velbuzhd (1330), and Macedonia was included in the realm of the great Servian tsar Dushan (1331-1355) who fixed his capital at Uskiib. Dushan's empire fell to pieces after his death, and the anarchy which followed prepared the way for the advance of the Turks, to whom not only contending factions at Constantinople but Servian and Bulgarian princes alike made overtures.
Macedonia and Thrace were soon desolated by Turkish raids; when it was too late the Slavonic states combined against the invaders, but their forces, under the Servian tsar Lazar, were routed at Kossovo in 1389 by the sultan Murad I. Salonica and Larissa were captured in 1395 by Murad's son Bayezid, whose victory over Sigismund of Hungary at Nicopolis in 1396 sealed the fate of the peninsula. Hello Chapultepec, First of all, great pictures on your user page, but regarding your arbitrary control over the Baklava page: Yes, Baklava is currently popular in modern countries once belonging to the Ottoman Empire, but this generalization does not include countries such as Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, and India -- all of which were Persianates (heavily influenced by Persian culture to the point of virtual assimilation) or were ruled by a Persian Dynasty at one point in time. The Qajar Dynasty of Persia popularized Baklava within its domain as well as in many of these countries. In order to validate this fact, it is necessary to mention it along with the Ottoman Empire. I understand your nationalistic desire to put Turkey's name on Baklava, but frankly it's not native to the country of Turkey. You have be fair to other countries,
thank you, Bagrationi

[edit] Saif ad-Din Abu-Bakr
Hi Chapultepec, I started an article about Sultan Saif ad-Din Abu-Bakr please visit discussion page and the following page : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Saif_ad-Din_Abu-Bakr
Thank you. Samsam22 (talk) 02:38, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
- Hi Chapultepec, the article of Saif ad-Din Abu-Bakr is as good as ready. Thank you for editing. But we have a little problem. If you look in article of Aybak you will see below in the succession box that Al-Mansur Ali is red and not linked. The same is in page of Saif ad-Din Abu-Bakr the name Kujuk in the succession box also not linked. the two sultans were not very significant and thus there is no much to say about them. In itself this is not a real problem. But there are people here who as soon as I start an article jump in and try to delete it with the excuse that the Sultan was not important and therefore does not deserve an article. But this makes it hard to link the articles of the Mamluks sultans as some names in the succession box remain red and thus reader can not follow. What do you think ? Is here someone we can talk with about ? so that we can add the two sultans with little info but with succession box so that the circle is complete. Please let me know about your opinion. Thank you and regards. Samsam22 (talk) 17:23, 20 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Dumlupınar (disambiguation)
This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Dumlupınar (disambiguation), and it appears to be very similar to another wikipedia page: Dumlupınar. It is possible that you have accidentally duplicated contents, or made an error while creating the page— you might want to look at the pages and see if that is the case.
This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot (talk) 17:27, 6 March 2008 (UTC)

Yes right I saw the article. I think we have to fix it and add ref as Khalil was an important sultan. I will start fix tomorrow and if you like you can adjust. I did not go further with writing new articles till we fixed old ones. Tamam Thanx Samsam22 (talk) 02:17, 14 March 2008 (UTC)
- Hi Chapultepec, Ok I checked sources. But I have difficulty with two points 1)
conflict Turkish Mamluks with Circassians and 2) conflict because of Ibn al-Salus. No source mentioned that. The rest can go though need to modify and add info. Tamam . Let me know what do you think. Samsam22 (talk) 20:00, 14 March 2008 (UTC)
- Hi , I did not finish the Khalil's article yet but I arrived to the case of Alexander and changed to : " ...by Khalil who was described on some of his monuments as Alexander.[49]". On the article of the Siege of Acre (1291) actually not much said about the Conquere of Acre. Maybe we can later copy/past the part from Khalil article. I also made a map ( lol ) for Acre 1291. anyway, Tamam. Regards Samsam22 (talk) 23:16, 20 March 2008 (UTC)
- Hi Chapultepec, I think the article of Al-Ashraf finished. See if you like to adjust something. Regards Samsam22 (talk) 05:19, 26 March 2008 (UTC)
- Hi Chapultepec, Thank you for offering to send the Baklavas by e-mail. I think the article of Shajar al-Durr is as good as ready. you can start editing if you like. Later I will add more to the impact :) regards Samsam22 (talk) 19:47, 29 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Cumans
Why do you remove the Bulgarian name??? The Cumans played important role in Bulgaria as co-founders of several dynasties and as participated in the Bulgarian army. Restore it. --Gligan (talk) 19:11, 23 March 2008 (UTC)
- What kind of reference? Usually there are no references for the names in different languages. --Gligan (talk) 19:17, 23 March 2008 (UTC)
The other names beside it have references for example, that kind of reference will work. --Chapultepec (talk) 19:19, 23 March 2008 (UTC)
