Thanks. You're right, I hadn't been welcomed yet but that's fine.  Channel ®   (talk) 11:09, 20 February 2008 (UTC)
Also, you might find WP:ERP useful. WLU (talk) 12:58, 5 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Thanks

Thanks for the revert: the user in question couldn't understand that joke attack articles were undesirable. Regards, Acroterion (talk) 19:11, 9 March 2008 (UTC)

No sweat. It's all in a day's work. ;-)  Channel ®   20:01, 9 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Macedonia naming conventions

AerospaceM isn't right, at least not according to Wikipedia rnaming rules. Pls. see Wikipedia:MOSMAC. Acad Ronin (talk) 21:45, 9 March 2008 (UTC)

You're fast. No sweat my side either. Acad Ronin (talk) 21:45, 9 March 2008 (UTC)
I think the UN and EU are a better source of information when it comes to the current name of countries than Wikipedia:MOSMAC. I'm well aware of the whole FYROM/Macedonia name dispute (I live in Greece, you know) and personally I don't care what the country is called. But right now it's on the UN and EU's books as FYROM, so I'd say that's its name. For now, anyway. (BTW, next time you write something here, please don't write your comments in the middle of another person's message, please. Thanks)  Channel ®   22:01, 9 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Thank you for the support friend

A big thanks for stepping up and protecting the truth. I m refering to your edit at the National Bank of Greece article, in which some loosers instead of protecting the correct (not according to me but according to UN, EU and NATO) are protecting other interests. As you said, until the dispute is solved, the name of this country is FYROM. End of story. Some people need to accept it, whether they like it or not. Keep up the good work. AerospaceM.77.83.27.105 (talk) 22:39, 9 March 2008 (UTC)

Like I said above, I'm not going to start an edit war about this. This dispute can keep folks reverting and banning until they're blue in the face. I changed the name once because I thought that was right, not knowing that I was walking into a snake pit. That's all. I can do without the battle.  Channel ®   01:51, 10 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Scarlett Keeling case

My speedy delete tag got removed from Scarlett Keeling case, and so did yours. The remover then put an AfD tag on the article but never followed up on it to put it on the AfD discussion page, so I went ahead and did that. You might want to visit that discussion. Corvus cornixtalk 23:25, 10 March 2008 (UTC)

Thanks. I went and added my 2 cents.  Channel ®   23:31, 10 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Revision history of Napier Boys' High School

Was that las revert you did what you intended? It appears to have put probable vandalism back on the page. Loren.wilton (talk) 00:58, 12 March 2008 (UTC)

We were getting in eachother's way, both reverting the same vandalism. Too many RC patrollers around ;-)
The page is okay now.  Channel ®   01:00, 12 March 2008 (UTC)
It got broken again later, but I fixed it again. Thanks. Loren.wilton (talk) 02:53, 12 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Joseph Stalin

I would appreciate it if you pointed out exactly where I used speculation and weasel words in my edits on this article. Also bear in mind I'm using just one source material for all my edits (Montefiore's Young Stalin).

That's exactly one of the points I object to, Kurzon. The other revisions use more references and no vague desciptions. Furthermore you delete paragraphs and sentences that are perfectly fine and replace them with less clear versions. For example, you turned
"In 1890, at the age of 12, Stalin was run over by a horse-drawn carriage" into
"At around the time he started school, Stalin was struck by a horse-drawn carriage".
I'm sorry but I don't call that an improvement.
Next time you write here, please sign your post by typing four tildes, thanks.  Channel ®    13:05, 13 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Blocking

Admins do have wide latitude in making blocks, the process is governed by WP:BLOCK. One of the main considerations in longer blocks on IP addresses is that it may affect innocent users if the IP address is dynamic or re-allocated. Even though it's sometimes a pain, the standard process is to apply steadily increasing blocks. You'll note that the first block on this user was for three hours (not a time-frame I agree with, but still within guidelines - and sometimes works). When i saw the vandal continuing to vandalize once the other admin's block expired, I extended it to 31 hours. If the vandal had a longer history of vandalism, I may have blocked for longer...and once I saw his rather unpleasant responses on his talk page to being blocked...I not only proteced his talk page, but substantialy increased the block time.

The RickK Anti-Vandalism Barnstar
I hereby award you this anti-vandalism barnstar for your relentless pursuit of the vandals!! Dreadstar 11:05, 14 March 2008 (UTC)

I can't tell you how much your anti-vandal work is appreciated, so please don't let something like this diminish your enthusaism for the battle! Dreadstar 11:05, 14 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] WP:AIV

Hi. Thanks for your diligent work fighting vandals. We definitely need more folks like you. One small request, however: can you try to be sure that folks have been given a final warning before making a report to WP:AIV? It would help out the admins a bit. Thanks, and keep up the great work! Toddst1 (talk) 22:14, 15 March 2008 (UTC)

I know who you're referring to. I did it they other way around (report first, final warning a minute later) and the #$%@ got away. Argh. [bangs head on keyboard]  Channel ®    22:21, 15 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Revert Tool Failure

Hello,

I'm trying to contribute the same way that you have - scanning recent changes and reverting apparent vandalism and obvious inappropriate changes. However, I have twice had reverts fail - truncating the page - when using the javascript tool Twinkle built in gadget. In the latest case, you were able to correct the change before I could. Have you encountered this problem before? Any suggestions? Tcncv (talk)

No, Twinkle works fine for me. I did notice that it sometimes gets confused when you've got it running in a lot of windows (more than 5) simultaneously. Maybe that's what messed things up for you? I have never seen Twinkle damage a page, though. Not even when it was confused. Perhaps you should contact the author about this. Oh, and don't forget, Twinkle does NOT work with Internet Explorer.  Channel ®    23:32, 21 March 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for the input. I'm running only one window in an actively updated version of FireFox. I'm now thinking that I may have been impatient and hit the history tab before the revert completed. I'll try slowing down to make sure I get the "revert complete" confirmation. Happy Hunting. Tcncv (talk)

[edit] Block duration

I'll fix the template. Thanks for pointing it out. --Rodhullandemu (Talk) 23:00, 25 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Prophecy

I reverted the unsourced criticism of the Mormon religion you added to the article. Religion is a sensitive subject, and Wikipedia's general practice is to revert unsourced criticism of other religions on sight, particularly if it could be construed as being of a controversial or derogatory nature. Our Neutral point of view, verification and reliable sources policies prohibit this type of unsourced commentary, and we enforce them strictly for content of this type. Best, --Shirahadasha (talk) 03:34, 27 March 2008 (UTC)

I assume you're referring to the polygamy bit? FYI, I didn't add it, I reverted something that had been there already myself. An IP editor was making pro-Mormon edits which, in my opinion, were bordering on vandalism. That's why I reverted. See the edit history. Furthermore, the info I reverted is not unsourced, the same facts are mentioned and sourced in the article about the Mormon's founder Joseph_Smith,_Jr.. I checked that before I reverted. If a statement is true and sourced, I don't see why it can't be in an article. (By the way, I'm not interested in Mormon bashing. Just trying to be neutral here.)  Channel ®    07:54, 27 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Finally, not locked anymore

Yes. I actually waited. Yes, I am the same guy. I just have a question. How did you delete your entire history? Reply here. 216.209.113.44 (talk) —Preceding comment was added at 02:05, 20 May 2008 (UTC)

I had the pages speedy deleted. That removes the history as well, although admins can still get at it. See WP:SPEEDY. By the way, my pages weren't locked, they were only semi-protected. See WP:PROTECT.  Channel ®   06:36, 20 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] watch this for me

I made a couple changes here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Genericized_trademark , and, they MIGHT look like vandalism, since I am just an IP address. Since I'm your old IP hopping buddy, I thought I'd ask you to watch the page for me, and make sure a bot or something doesn't remove the edits. Thanks. Also, reply here... since I am a dynamic IP. 216.209.113.183 (talk) 03:37, 29 May 2008 (UTC)

Sorry, I'm busy enough with my own stuff as it is. If the dynamic IP bothers you, just get an account and add the page to your Watchlist. Besides, if your edits are good they'll stay. IP or not.  Channel ®   05:25, 29 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Thomas Sampson nomination

Thomas Sampson should not have been nominated for speedy deletion, for the very good reason that someone had pasted their own article on top of a perfectly legitimate one. You are supposed to look at the history - how else are you going to catch vandalism. Charles Matthews (talk) 08:09, 2 June 2008 (UTC)

Everybody makes mistakes and so do I. I did check the history but obviously not deep enough, sorry. Fortunately everything is reversible here, so there's no need to bite my head off.  Channel ®   10:09, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for your note; we both slipped up, but no harm done in the end. A lesson for both of us, but don't be put off from keeping on with the good work. Regards, BencherliteTalk 10:54, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
