Whether in his quartet, in New York big bands or out at jam sessions, Chad Gales shows enthusiasm and determination that is nostalgic of his saxophone heroes and musicians. Born in New Orleans, Mr. Gales was exposed to traditional jazz and the great musical scene entwined in the culture of this historic city. Chad gained important musical training at the University of New Orleans under the tutoring of Ellis Marsalis and Edward Petersen. After two years, he transferred to Southern University of Baton Rouge to study exclusively under Alvin Batiste.

Teachers such as; Edward Petersen, Alvin Batiste, Jessie Davis, Wessel Anderson and Ellis Marsalis were critical in his musical journey to become a regular performer in shows, clubs, and festivals in and around New York, Mexico, Chicago, Paris, Nice and Prague. His debut CD Introducing Chad Gales (2007) is the beginning of much more to come.
