[edit] Assessment

I'd like to open a discussion about the importance assessment. While I don't feel too strongly about it, I will note the reason why I originally assessed it as "high" was that Chateau Montelena was immensely influential in the history of American wines by winning the Judgment of Paris wine tasting. That single act help generate awareness that American wines deserve a place on the world stage of wine. It is also one of the few American wines that have the international recognition of a type of first growth like Château Latour and Château Lafite Rothschild-both of which also have a "High" importance rating.
