Talk:Charles Swift
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I am a relatively new user at wiki. I've added an introductory paragraph to this entry. My edits can be found on my user page if needed (did my work in the 'sandbox' and copied it over at the end). R. Baley 19:33, 11 October 2006 (UTC)
I don't think this article qualifies as a stub anymore as indicated on the 'article' page, but am unsure what to change it to or just remove designation. New user R. Baley 19:52, 19 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] image
Would like to upload image. I have photoshopped an AP image from a 650k color to a ~50k black and white (220x200). Would this constitute fair use? Can't find any that aren't attributed to a news organization (and no gov. pics either). please help. R. Baley 21:02, 20 October 2006 (UTC)
- uploaded an image which I believe qualifies under fair use. Still would prefer one that is from the gov't or qualifies under GNU Free Documentation License. R. Baley 06:38, 22 May 2007 (UTC)
DoctorFuji 23:39, 28 February 2007 (UTC)I can't seem to find a way to change to Reference # 10. There is a wiki link to USMA (US Military Academy). Swift is a graduate of USNA (US Naval Academy).
- sorry it took so long to address this, but his biography is on a website which is hosted by the AOGUSMA. The ref is not meant to say he graduated from the USMA, that's just where his biography is at. R. Baley 06:38, 22 May 2007 (UTC)
[edit] B Class Rating
I rated it B-class, as it has the "majority of the material needed for a completed article", but it will need some work to get up to GA status. Some things that could be worked on:
- The part in the lead section about the trial should be moved into its own seperate section.
- The "Background" section is mainly unreferenced. I understand you take it from the biography you linked to, but the link should be made into a reference, and all statements referenced.
- The statement in the "Accolades" section, "In December 2005 he was chosen as runner-up Lawyer of the Year by the National Law Journal for his challenge to the Guantanamo review tribunals", is unreferenced.
- Also, after the lead section, you refer to the subject as "LCDR Swift" three times, and wikilink to LCDR twice. If you have LCDR wikilinked in the lead section, then you shouldn't have to put it in again.
I hope this will help you. Noble Story 05:42, 22 May 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for taking the time to look at this article. R. Baley 06:38, 22 May 2007 (UTC)

From talk page here. Although this was posted to a particular user, any help from anybody is appreciated. Pasted request begins below:
Hi, I noticed your edit to the Swift article/bio. If you still use this account, I was wondering if you might be interested in helping us obtain a free photo under (GFDL) of Cmdr. Swift for the article. I will copy this post to the talk page, in case you edit from a different IP. If you would like to do this but need help, feel free to contact me on my talk page (here). Thanks in advance. R. Baley 21:36, 7 June 2007 (UTC)
