[edit] Dispute about early prison sentence
In my overhaul I deleted completely the following passage:
On October 15, 1924 he was admitted to the Missouri State Penitentiary at Jefferson City. On June 6, 1925, Makley’s sentence was reversed and remanded by the Missouri Superior Court. In 1926 Charles was wanted by the Sheriff, Jefferson County Missouri for robbing the Citizens Bank of Festus, MO of $18,000 (over $200,000 in 2006 dollars).
For two reasons: 1) it is unattributed, and 2) it directly contradicts the source I'm holding in my hands now, The Encyclopedia of Robberies, Heists and Capers, which says that Makley remained in prison from 1924 to 1928, when he was paroled. I'm willing to believe that my source is wrong, or at least incomplete. But in the face of citation vs no citation, I'm going with what I have to cite right here in front of me. If someone knows otherwise, I'd be grateful for a link. Ford MF 19:30, 28 November 2006 (UTC)
