[edit] Improper fair use criterion used

The fair use criterion provided applies only to discussing the PAINTING; this is being used to identify the SUBJECT. -- Avi 15:05, 15 October 2007 (UTC)

  • I have re-licensed the image to a GNU Free Documentation License as I think in the UK if you take a photo of a painting, you can claim a new copyright over the image. The other image currently available will no doubt be soon deleted as no source information will be found to date the image as being copyright free. Chesdovi 15:12, 15 October 2007 (UTC)
    • Other image is public domain in the US due to Bridgeman Art Library v. Corel Corp., as noted on its page. This image would be fair use in the US to discuss the painting itself or the painter, but not the subject of the painting, I believe. -- Avi 16:07, 15 October 2007 (UTC)
This image is also public domain for the same reasons. I don't think there's any doubt that the copyright on the painting itself has expired, although there is missing data here to that effect. Pascal.Tesson 13:22, 25 October 2007 (UTC)
I am wondering whether this is an actual copy of an earlier PD painting, a recent painted replica of an original, or maybe the image is itself a recent creation? I have noticed however that it’s widely used: [1] and [2]. Chesdovi 13:56, 25 October 2007 (UTC)
