Chauncey Black (also known as Chauncey Hannibal) is a singer, songwriter and former member of Blackstreet. He was signed by Busta Rhymes to the Flipmode Squad label in October 2006. His debut solo album, Church Boy was originally scheduled for release in 2007 but has yet to come out. The first single from the album is called "Ride or Die," which features Young Buck and Rah Digga.[citation needed]

He has appeared on Busta Rhymes' "You Can't Hold The Torch" from his album "The Big Bang".

In 2008, he appeared on a song by Kery James, a french rapper, called "Encore" from his album "A L'Ombre Du Showbusiness"

He was also mentioned by Kanye West in his song "Everything I Am" on the Graduation album:

I'll never be picture perfect Beyonce
Be light as Al B. or black as Chauncey
Remember him from Blackstreet
He was as black as the street was
I'll never be laid back as this beat was"

[edit] Legal troubles

When Black lost his Virginia Beach, Virginia home in a 2006 foreclosure, he allegedly stripped the house's interior, removing or destroying "nearly everything".[1] In January 2007 a warrant for his arrest was issued on a grand larceny charge. One year later, he was arrested in California and extridited to Virginia Beach on the grand larceny charge, as well as for "failing to pay child/spousal support" and a "failure to appear on a misdemeanor charge" that dates to September 2007.[2][3] The failure-to-appear charge stemmed from a missed court date where he was to be sentenced for contempt of court and for violating his terms of probation.[2]
