Chattahoochee Valley Railway

The West Point Manufacturing Company began operating the Chattahoochee Valley Railway to serve cotton mills along the Chattahoochee River. It initially opened in 1897 between West Point, GA to Riverview, AL then extended shortly afterward to Jester, AL. 1908 saw an extension to Standing Rock, AL to connect with the Atlanta, Birmingham and Atlantic Railroad and then a connection at Bleeker, AL with the Central of Georgia Railroad occurred in 1916. The railroad began shedding some lines in 1974 and eventually shut down completely in 1992.
