Chassahowitzka, Florida

Chassahowitzka (pronounced Chaz' uh wiska or Chaz' uh whiskey) is an unincorporated area within Citrus County, FL and is also known as the Chassahowitzka National Wildlife Refuge, a part of the National Wildlife Refuge System of the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service located near the town of Homosassa, FL.[1]

administers five national wildlife refuges, two of which are in Citrus County and three are in the Tampa Bay Refuges:

  • Crystal River NWR (Citrus)

  • Passage Key NWR (Tampa Bay)
  • Pinellas NWR (Tampa Bay)
