Chasing Shadows was released in 1986 on Island Records. It's The Comsat Angels' sixth album. The album was released on CD, Cassette and LP initially, but has yet to be reissued.
Having left Jive Records, the Comsat Angels returned to where they had left of after 1982's Fiction. The album is much less pop-oriented than their preceding one, 7 Day Weekend. The band had gotten a recording contract with Island Records with the help of Robert Palmer, who confessed in a TV show to be a fan of the Comsat Angels. As a thank-you he is credited as "executive producer" on the album, and also sings on the track You'll Never Know.
The track The Cutting Edge was released as a single, but didn't become a hit.
