Chastity "Chas" Dingle is a fictional character on the ITV soap opera Emmerdale. She is played by Lucy Pargeter.
[edit] About Chas
Like most members of her clan, Chas Dingle arrived in Emmerdale in a blaze of glory - dressed as a nun.
No, it wasn’t that Chas was the first member of the Dingles to find religion, she was a strippergram - hired by her father Shadrach to give her cousin Marlon a stag night treat.
Weird as it may sound, that night Chas ended up locked in the back of a van with vicar Ashley Thomas. But for all her mouthy comments and slutty outfits, Chas is far brighter than most Dingles, growing up in Northern Ireland.
She settled for a job at the Woolpack simply because she wasn’t sure exactly what she wanted to do with her life. Chas’ indecision and flightiness has cost her dearly. She is mother to Aaron, her son by ex-husband Gordon Livesy who has custody.
Sadly, Aaron hates his mother and every attempt she’s made to form a bond with him has ended in disaster.
On one occasion Chas slapped Aaron and the incident was witnessed by her nemesis Louise Appleton, or “Skippy” as Chas calls her.
When Chas annoyed Louise by not turning up for work, she told Gordon about the slap and deepened the rift between mother and son.
To repay her, Chas punched Louise squarely in the face - that’s what happens when you cross her! But Chas has got a softer side, brought out most recently by her boyfriend Carl King.
Although their relationship started as a sex-driven fling, both Chas and Carl found themselves falling in love with each other.
When Carl needed to confess his role in Paul Marsden’s death, Chas gave him support and forgiveness. And Carl backed Chas up when his family tried to evict her from Pear Tree Cottage. But someone was waiting in the wings to ruin their happiness.
During one of their numerous splits, Chloe Atkinson managed to lure Carl into having a one night stand with her. Expecting them to be an item, Chloe was astounded when Carl went back to Chas and plotted to break them up.
She started by undermining Chas’ trust in Carl and then backed up her evil scheme with a series of nasty poison pen letters. Chloe’s plot worked and soon Chas was alone again.
She got together with policeman Denzel, who she was fond of, but it was clear Chas still loved Carl.
So imagine how furious Chas was when she discovered the truth about Chloe. The spiteful redhead didn’t - she ended up being dunked in the village well in front of stunned onlookers.
Heartbroken and angry, Chas decided she needed to get out of Emmerdale for a while. She enlisted to join the army and went off on training leaving Carl – who declared he’d wait for her – desperate to make amends. He got that chance when, a few months later, he realized he needed to fight for Chas.
Having forged a close friendship with her cousin Delilah, Carl looked like he might have forgotten Chas. But his relationship with Del only served to prove to him that it was Chas he wanted.
After a drunken one night stand with Del, Carl went to the barracks to beg Chas for a second chance.
When he saw her driving off to a wedding reception, he gave chase and declared his love in front of her fellow officers. Chas was furious, not least when Carl fell over while carrying her and breaking her leg.
She was hospitalized and her career in the army was cut short – but she did have a gorgeous to console her. Now he’d won her back, Carl wanted to make it very clear that he was serious about Chas.
He set up a romantic treasure hunt which featured a video taped proposal at the end of it, but Chas didn’t say yes. Unsure of whether it was too much to soon, she procrastinated.
Determined not to take no for an answer, Carl promised to do a wing walk to prove his devotion. Stunned by the lengths he would go to in order to win her heart, Chas agreed to marry him.
But while it looked like everything was cool, another problem was just around the corner. When Chas’ son Aaron came to stay, he found out that Carl had slept with Del and told his mum in spite.
She went crazy but it was Del who convinced her that she shouldn’t throw away the best thing that had ever happened to her just because of a drunken one night stand.
Now Chas and Carl have moved into Home Farm and the Dingle dame is fast becoming very involved in the whole King empire. She’s working as a PA for the company, living with patriarch Tom and is about to marry into the family.
But in that family there’s always trouble around the corner and Chas shouldn’t count on a happy ending anytime soon. Chas may act tough but she's got a good heart. Something that Tom king played on when he paid her off to end her relationship with Carl. she spent weeks fretting over whether to tell him the truth and egged on by eli decided to confron Carl at his father wedding. It didn't go to plan and she berated Tom instead threatening him and bad mouthing him. She is now one of ten suspects in Tom King's murder after he was pushed to his death on his wedding night.
One of her latest storylines is that of her and her friend, Lexi Nicholls dared each other, and challenged each other, to seduce a married man at a glitzy bar. Chas ultimately won the challenge by sleeping with the man, but he was found dead in the morning with his wallet missing. Chas is now suspected of yet another murder, whilst Lexi (who stole the wallet) walks scot free.
