Through these earlier groups, the Institution has a history of working in environmental management dating back to 1895. CIWEM was granted a Royal Charter in 1995 and celebrated its centenary in the same year.
[edit] International Environmental Photographer of the Year Competition
CIWEM runs the International Environmental Photographer of the Year Competition. This competition seeks to celebrate photographers who use their ability to raise awareness of environmental and social issues.
