Charlotte Latin School is an independent, non-sectarian, coeducational, college-preparatory day school serving 1370 students in transitional kindergarten through twelfth grade in Charlotte, North Carolina, United States.
The school was founded in 1970 after the state of North Carolina implemented busing to integrate the public schools.
Charlotte Latin's state sporting champions have been in track, soccer, football, lacrosse, volleyball, tennis, cross country, swimming and wrestling in the NCISAA. The Wrestling program has the most state championships out of every other sports program at Latin.[citation needed] Charlotte Latin is also the youngest school to be granted a "Cum Laude" chapter, in 1976.
The school is primarily a liberal arts school with a variety of classes in music, theater, art, English, history, the sciences, foreign languages, mathematics, and other studies.
