Charlie Tonga (born: September 27 1977, Tonga) is a Rugby League footballer in the National Rugby League (NRL) competition.
Tonga is recognised as a powerful front-row forward with the Sydney Roosters, noted for his damaging running ability.
In his time at the club, he has played only a handful of First Grade games. Charles has spent most of his time at the Roosters playing for the club's feeder team - The Newtown Jets.
Tonga is clearly a player that is yet to realise his full potential. With greater concentration on the field and with greater conditioning, he could eventually become one of the most feared forwards in the competition.
Tonga is a committed Christian pastor and youth minister who is called "Power Up" in Campbelltown, and works with kids at risk.
[edit] "Charles Tonga"
From the beginning of the 2007 NRL season, Charles has asked NRL commentators to stop referring to him as "Charlie". He now prefers to be called by his full name, "Charles".
