Charles Wynford Lodge (born 23 November 1943) is an actor best remembered for his portrayal of Lt Don Baxter in the classic TV series of the late 70's and early 80's Baxter Investigates.... His father was the comedian Harold Wynford Lodge who made such classic silent shorts as A Kick In The Pants and A Kick In The Bloomers. Lodge's earliest work was as a 'hand' actor and a puppeteer, soon progressing to more substantial roles in TV and film. He keeps a semi-regular blog going online and is active on his own facebook fan page.
In 2002 a chance meeting at a Cult TV & Film convention lead to the production of the TV Movie comeback of CWL as Lt Don Baxter in Baxter Investigates... AGAIN!. A film made by Julian Jones, Max Hartshorne and John Richardson. The success of this production, premiered at the 2003 Glossop Mayfest (Glossop, Derbyshire, England), created a new found interest in Lodge and his back-catalogue, and even resulted in some offers of new work for the veteran star. One of his old short films, the 1960s French thriller Mal De TĂȘte (US title Brain Drain), is currently in the process of being digitally remastered for a release early next year.
Charles Wynford Lodge, the actor, is the comic creation of Julian Peter Seig Jones. One half of the Dan & Jones - Mind the Hedge team.
