Charles Ubriaco

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Charles Ubracio [Umbriaco] (c. 1867-September 7, 1916) was a mafiosi in the Morello crime family which ran the Harlem area of Manhattan.

[edit] Early life and career

Born as Camillo Ubriaco in Italy, not much is known about his activities or his involvement with Italian mafiosi prior to his arrival in the United States. His documented life starts when he arrived in America on August 27, 1909.

[edit] Mafia-Camorra war

Ubriaco wasn't part of the war that much but his and Nicholas Morello's death would spawn many more in the brutal Mafia-Camorra War. Since Morello was the boss, retaliation was the only answer. Ciro Terranova and many other mobsters would see to it that their deaths be avenged. The way Ubriaco died was that when he was walking down the street with Morello to a meeting with the Camorra when they were ambushed. Ubriaco was murdered by Thomas Carillo and Lefty Esposito at Johnson St. and Hudson Avenue on September 7th 1916, after living in America for only 9 years. Although Ubriaco's death was not avenged by the Morellos, his killers were arrested and indicted. Ubriaco was 49 years old.
