Charles Tait (film director)

Charles Tait (15 November 1868-27 June 1933) was the director and writer of The Story of the Kelly Gang, an Australian film, regarded as the world's first feature length film. The film was released on 26 December 1906.

Tait was born in Castlemaine, Victoria, the son of Sir Frank and Lady (Viola) Tait, and died in Melbourne. He was the older brother of the film's producers John and Nevin Tait. There were two other younger brothers, Edward and Frank. The brothers were associated with J. C. Williamson Theatres Ltd.[1]
