Charles Stebbins

Charles Stebbins (1789 - 1873) was an American politician.
He was a member of the New York State Senate from the 5th District between 1826 and 1829. When Governor Van Buren resigned to become Secretary of State in March 1829, and Lieutenant Governor Enos Throop succeeded to the governorship, Stebbins, was elected President pro tempore of the State Senate (Acting Lieutenant Governor of New York). He was not re-elected to the State Senate for the next term. In 1830, under the provisions of the Safety Fund law, he was appointed by the Governor one of the three Bank Commissioners. He was buried at Evergreen Cemetery in Cazenovia, New York.
