Charles Murray Winstanley Shadwell [1] (26 March 1898 in Surrey, England - 28 July 1979 in Pershore, Worcestershire, England) [2] was a British conductor and bandleader.
Shadwell was the founder of the Cambridge Concert Orchestra, and the conductor of the BBC Variety Orchestra, which he held from 1936 - 1967. His daughters Joan (1918-2001) was a singer who performed under the name Joan Winters, and Daphne (b. 1927) is a director and producer. He and Joan appeared together in the British short Variety Jubilee (1943).
