Charles Riley

Charles Riley (July 14, 1849 – December 22, 1894)[1] was the County Judge, the head executive, for Colorado County, Texas.
Judge Riley is known for his involvement in a court case in which he was accused of drinking on the job. This case is formally known as "Criminal Cause File No. 1698: State of Texas v. Charles Riley (1879) drunkenness in office."[2] In his role as County Judge, on January 8, 1881 Judge Riley married Paul Machemehl to Hermine Brune, the daughter of Louis Brune of Frelsburg, Texas. [3] [4] [5]. Judge Riley has been described as "an old and respected citizen" of Columbus, Texas. [6].
