Charles King (academic)

Charles King (1789–1867) succeeded Nathaniel Fish Moore to become Columbia's ninth president. He had earlier been a newspaper publisher and was the son of one-time trustee Rufus King.

His daughter, Mary Alsop King Waddington, became a writer.
