Charles Henry Hardin

Charles Henry Hardin (July 15, 1820 - July 29, 1892) was one of the eight founders of Beta Theta Pi fraternity. Born in 1820 in Trimble County, Kentucky, he graduated from Miami University in 1840 and received his LL.D. from William Jewell College in 1890. He later became the Governor of Missouri between 1875 and 1877 and had previously served in the Missouri House and Senate. He was a Democrat.

Hardin was a founder and board chair of Hardin Female College. He died in 1892 in Mexico, Missouri. He was initially buried in a private graveyard in Audrain County, Missouri, but was later re-buried at the Jewell Cemetery at Columbia, Missouri.
