Charles F. Buddy

Most Reverend Charles Francis Buddy, D.D. (October 4, 1887March 5, 1966) was an American Catholic bishop and educator. He was 1st Catholic bishop of San Diego from 1936 to 1966. In 1949 he helped found University of San Diego and served as its first president from 1950 to 1966.

Born in Saint Joseph, Missouri Buddy was ordained a priest on September 19, 1914 and was consecrated bishop on December 21, 1936. He died in San Diego.[1]
