Charles Christian Georgeson

Charles Christian Georgeson (born June 26, 1851 - d. 19?) was born on Langeland, Denmark. He immigrated to the United States in 1873 to attend college, eventually receiving a doctorate at Michigan State College in 1916. He received his master's in 1882, and was employed by the United States Department of Agriculture. He was appointed Special Agent in Charge of the US agricultural experiment stations in 1898, and sent to Alaska. He was well respected as a plant breeder and agronomist and developed the Sitka hybrid strawberry.

The Georgeson Botanical Garden is named in his honor.
