Charles Adeane

Charles Robert Whorwood Adeane CB, JP (2 November 1863 – 11 February 1943) was a British army officer.
The son of Henry John Adeane and Lady Elizabeth Philippa Yorke, he was educated in Eton College, Berkshire and in Cambridge University, where he graduated as an Honorary Doctor of Law. Adeane served in the 4th Battalion, Suffolk Regiment, reaching the rank of Lieutenant. He was Justice of Peace and Lord Lieutenant of Cambridgeshire from 1915 to 1943. In 1917, he became also President of the Royal Agricultural Society.
Adeane was also invested as a Companion of the Order of the Bath in 1917. He was further decorated with the Order of St Sava of Serbia and with the Order of the Crown of Belgium.
On 23 July 1888, he married Madeline Pamela Constance Blanche Wyndham, daughter of Percy Scawen Wyndham, a son of the 1st Baron Leconfield. They had seven children, two sons and five daughters.
