Charles A. Black Award

The Charles A. Black Award for exemplary contributions to public understanding of food and agricultural science" is an annual award given to a scientist or professional working in the sciences who has made an outstanding achievement to the "advancement of science in the public policy arena".

The award is presented by the Council for Agricultural Science and Technology (CAST), a nonprofit established in 1972 to assemble, interpret, and communicate science-based information to policymakers, the media, and the public.

The award is named for Dr. Charles A. Black, an agronomist and founding member of CAST.
