Chapman (magazine)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Chapman is a literary magazine based in Edinburgh, Scotland. In its long history, it has published many Scottish and international authors, including Iain Crichton Smith, Alasdair Gray, Sorley MacLean and Kathleen Raine. It is widely respected and highly regarded for its coverage of new poetry and short fiction, as well as its critical essays and reviews.

Started in 1969 as The Chapman, a small pamphlet edited by George Hardie and Walter Perrie, it transformed into its current title in 1970. Joy Hendry began editing the title first in partnership with Perrie, then solo from Issue 16 in 1976. She is still the magazine's editor today.

It is variously known as Chapman magazine, Chapman: Scotland's Quality Literary Magazine, but Chapman is its proper title.
