Chapi

  • Chapi is a sub-tribe of Mara, an Indian government recognized scheduled tribe in north eastern state of Mizoram.
  • Chapi is also a town and unofficial headquarters for Chapi language speaking people in the area. Chapi town is located some 2 kilometers from India-Myanmar border in east side of Southern most part of Mizoram state.
  • Chapi is also a language spoken by Chapi sub-tribe of Mara tribe and also by many people in the neighbouring Chin State and Rakhine State in Myanmar, formerly known as Burma.
  • Chapi is also a common name among the Aushi people of the Luapula Province in Zambia.
