Chapelle-Chambertin
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Chapelle-Chambertin is a grand cru vineyard in the Côte de Nuits located near the town of Gevrey-Chambertin. The vineyard is known primarily for its Pinot noir production.[1] Situated on the lower hillside near the grand crus of Griotte-Chambertin and Charmes-Chambertin the wines from this vineyard are known to have some of the lightest coloring of all the Gevrey-Chambertin grand crus.[2] Wine produced from the 13.5 acres (5.5 ha) tend to be reliant on the overall quality of the vintage. Appellation d'origine contrôlée requirements include a minimum alcohol percent by volume of 11.5% and harvest yields of no more than 37 hl/ha.[3] Within this larger grand cru are two sub-terroir vineyards whose names may appear on wine labels-la Chapelle and Les Gémeaux. Wines from this vineyard are expected to hit their peak after 8-20 years.[4]
