Chanta

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

"Chanta" is a word from the Sanskrit language that literally means sprinkle. Although Sanskrit is no longer used as a language, the word Chanta may be found in several languages currently in use in south east asia, including Urdu, Hindi and Gujarati. Many faiths employ water in a symbolic way, including Christianity (Baptism), Hinduism (Gangajal or water from the Ganges river). Chanta is a ritual that employs water in a similar fashion.
