Chandrapura is a census town in Bokaro district in the state of Jharkhand, India. It is situated beside river Damodar, the township was created for the Thermal Power Project. It is well-connected by road and rail. Expansion of DVC'one Power Project is going on. M/s BHEL is doing the project on turnkey basis for a thermal power plant of capacity 250MW x 2. Its settlement of DVC (Damodar Valley Corporation). The town is divided into Pallis meaning sectors. The most respected person in the town is the Chief Engineer of the CTPS project. DVC is upping its installed capacity of generation by 500 mega watts.

As of 2001 India census,[1] Chandrapura had a population of 22,389. Males constitute 54% of the population and females 46%. Chandrapura has an average literacy rate of 71%, higher than the national average of 59.5%; with male literacy of 78% and female literacy of 62%. 13% of the population is under 6 years of age. Chandrapura railway junction has five route which is way to five corner of india, and its biggest intersection in the nation.
