The 2008 Champions Youth Cup is the second edition of the tournament, endorsed by the G-14 group to be a Club World Championship for the Under-19 teams of some of the the world's largest clubs.
Each match lasts only 70 minutes, and, in the event of a draw in the knock-out stage, there is no extra time.[1]
The tournament will take place in Malaysia from 5 August to 16 August 2008. China will be making their debut in the tournament this year, the other Asian sides this year are Qatar, India and hosts Malaysia. There will be 16 teams from Europe; from England, defending champions Manchester United and Chelsea, from Italy, AC Milan and Juventus (2007 CYC runners-up), Germany’s Bayern Munich and Spain’s Barcelona, Ajax and PSV Eindhoven from the Netherlands and Olympique Lyonnais from France and Portugal’s Porto. They will be joined by two teams from South America, Flamengo from Brazil and River Plate from Argentina.
