Champagne Stakes (Great Britain)

The Champagne Stakes is a Group 2 flat horse race in the United Kingdom for two-year-old thoroughbred colts and geldings. It is run over a distance of 7 furlongs (1,408 metres) at Doncaster Racecourse during the St. Leger meeting in September.

It was first run in 1823, and aside from some well known winners, many notable horses have been beaten in the race. Recently these include Rock of Gibraltar (second in 2001), Haafhd (third in 2003) and Cockney Rebel (third in 2006). Further back, Sceptre (1901), Blenheim II (1929) and Rheingold (1971) all finished placed.
