Chambliss Amateur Achievement Award

The Chambliss Amateur Achievement Award is awarded by the American Astronomical Society for an achievement in astronomical research made by an amateur astronomer; that is a person not employed in the field of astronomy in a professional capacity, and who is resident in North America.[1] The key factor will be that the work contributes to the advancement of the science of astronomy. It is named for Carlson R. Chambliss of Kutztown University, who donated the funds to support the prize. The award will consist of a 224-gram (½-lb) silver medal and $1,000 cash.[2]
