Chalumna River
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Chalumna River is a river in South Africa which empties into the Indian Ocean and is located about 45km south west of the Buffalo River at East London. Kayser's Beach is situated close by.
It was near the mouth of this river in 1938 that Captain Hendrik Goosen trawled a catch of fish, one of which Marjorie Courtenay-Latimer preserved and was later identified to be a Coelacanth fish, thought to be long extinct.
