Chaldon Herring

Chaldon Herring or East Chaldon is a village in the Purbeck district of the county of the English county of Dorset. It is situated two miles from the coast and eight miles south east of Dorchester. The village has a population of 166 (2001), 11.9% of dwellings are second homes.

Notable for being the home of Llewelyn Powys, his wife, Alyse Gregory and the sisters Elizabeth Muntz (sculpturess) and Hope Muntz (authoress and historian) who wrote The Golden Warrior.

The village was home to an artists' colony under the patronage of T.F. Powys.
