As of 2001 India census[2], Chakia had a population of 13,667. Males constitute 52% of the population and females 48%. Chakia has an average literacy rate of 59%, lower than the national average of 59.5%; with male literacy of 68% and female literacy of 50%. 18% of the population is under 6 years of age.

  Chakia is famous for the fort of king of Ramnagar,a city near Varanasi.It has a very ancient temple of Goddess Kali on the west side of the fort. And many sacred rituals are performed here.
