Chakhei

Chakhei is one of the towns in Southern part of India's north-eastern state of Mizoram. The inhabitants are mostly Chapi sub-tribe of Mara tribe who were earlier known to outsiders as Lakher. It is situated just 2 kilometers below Mt. Mawma, the fifth highest mountain in Mizoram and the highest peak within Mara Autonomous District Council (MADC).
Chakhei town lies 15 km from India-Myanmar border and overlooks River Kaladan, the biggest river in Mizoram state.
