Chakdaha (In Bengali:চাকদহ) is a town with and a police station and a municipality under Kalyani subdivision in Nadia district in the state of West Bengal, India.[1]

As of 2001 India census,[3] Chakdaha had a population of 86,965. Males constitute 51% of the population and females 49%. Chakdaha has an average literacy rate of 79%, higher than the national average of 59.5%; with male literacy of 84% and female literacy of 75%. 9% of the population is under 6 years of age.

In 2006, Malay Kumar Samanta of CPI (M) won the Chakdaha state assembly seat defeating his nearest rival Naresh Chandra Chaki of AITC. In 2001, 1996 and 1991, Satyasadhan Chakraborty of CPI (M) defeated his nearest rivals Gouri Sankar Dutta, Sukumar Sarkar and Sukumar Roy (all of INC) in the respective years. In 1987 and 1982, Subhas Basu of CPI (M) defeated Sanatanu Bhowmick and Narendra Nath Sarkar (both of INC) in respective years. In 1977, Binoy Kumar Biswas (Independent) defeated Saradindu Biswas of INC.[4]
Chakdaha is part of the Nabadwip (Lok Sabha constituency).[5]

Chakdaha is an intermediate panchayat (local self-government) under Nadia zilla panchayat. Village panchayats under it are – Chanduria I and II, Dewli, Dubra, Ghetugachhi, Hingara, Kanchrapara, Madanpur I and II, Saguna, Sarati, Silinda I and II, Simurali, Talatala I and II, Tautari.[6]
