King Chairacha (Thai: สมเด็จพระไชยราชาธิราช) (Reigned 1534-1546) was King of Ayutthaya (Siam). He was a son of King Ramathibodi II. He was the governor of Phitsanulok for 5 years before he came to the throne. The Thai-Burmese wars began in his reign with the Chiang Kran war. He ordered a shortcut to be made through the bends of the Chao Phraya river in the area of current-day Bangkok. This is now the main river course.
