Chainless
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Chainless was a French automobile manufactured from 1900 to 1903 in Paris by SA des Voitures Légère Chainless. The cars used Abeille or Buchet engines of 10, 16, and 20 cv, were shaft-driven voiturettes.
Chainless is also a form of BMX riding. Some riders do not ride a sprocket, chain and rear driver/hub. This allows them to ride "fakie" (backwards) further than other riders because they do not have to back pedal as they roll "fakie". This has its disadvantages as well as the rider cannot pedal, he/she must "push" with their foot much like a skateboarder making it hard to pick up speed.
