Chad Brownstein is co-founder and Managing Partner of Los Angeles-based venture capital firm ITU Ventures and diversified financial company Brownstein Schnel Holdings. Mr. Brownstein also sits on the Board of Directors of advanced interconnect technology company Surfect Technologies.

[edit] Education and Early Career
Chad Brownstein is the son of Denver, Colorado lawyer Norman Brownstein, lead partner of the Brownstein, Hyatt & Farber law firm. He attended Tulane University and received a B.A. degree. He also attended Columbia Business School.
Early in his career, Chad Brownstein became a member of the Merchant Banking and Investment Banking divisions of Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette where he participated in private and public investment banking activities including equity, debt and merger and advisory transactions.
In the year 2000, under the tutelage of Columbia Business School's Dean Glenn Hubbard, Chad Brownstein co-founded ITU Ventures with his friend Jonah Schnel.
[edit] Career in Venture Capital
As Managing Partner for ITU Ventures, Chad Brownstein played a key role in his firm's successful exits from at least 6 venture investments despite the NASDAQ crash and technology slump that started in March 2000. In 2003, Mr. Brownstein's firm, ITU Ventures, profitably exited from Coatue Corporation when the portfolio company was sold to Advanced Micro Devices (AMD). In 2004, portfolio companies Eizel Technologies, sold to Nokia, and Hier Design, sold to Xilinx, were also profitably exited. And in 2006, Mr. Brownstein's firm realized profits from another one of its portfolio investments when Weyerhaeuser acquired OrganicID.
Mr. Brownstein is involved in the oversight of over twenty high-technology companies in his firm's investment portfolio.
