Chabanais (Chabanès in Occitan) is a municipality in western France in the department of Charente. The village had about 2000 inhabitants in 1999.

The Vienne River passes through Chabanais. The village is located in the Rochechouart crater, an ancient asteroid impact crater that eroded away and is not visible anymore.

Chabanais was struck by an F2 tornado on 5 May 1997.
