[edit] Merge with Chūō Rapid Line
There is a lot of common information between these two pages. I think they should be merged Paullb (talk) 09:45, 10 April 2008 (UTC)
- Merge - I'm not convinced that there is any real need for a separate Chūō Rapid Line page, and the direction in which the creator and only real editor is taking that page is not at all clear to me. So, yes, I agree that merging it with Chūō Main Line seems sensible. --DAJF (talk) 11:07, 10 April 2008 (UTC)
- Keep - Although the present status of the rapid line article is poor, the subject of the article enjoys a distinct notability as a commuter railway in Tokyo. It is rather strange if the orange trains do not have a separate article and are only described together with trains in Nagoya area. --Sushiya (talk) 10:19, 12 April 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Chuo rapid line information
Information covered in the Chuo Rapid Line article, like the rapid line trains (rapid, commuter rapid, special rapid etc...) should be removed from the stopping table. There is no reason to have this data twice. Paullb (talk) 22:53, 13 April 2008 (UTC)
- The Chūō Rapid Line is a mere part of operation of the Chūō Main Line between Tokyo and Takao or Ōtsuki. This main line article generally describes the relationship among the services (local, rapid service and limited express trains). Information like that Suidōbashi Station is served by local trains but is skipped by rapid trains is not within the proper scope of the rapid line article. (Yes, it can describe it. But it is improper if such information about Suidōbashi Station only appears on the rapid line article.) So, I believe the stopping pattern of rapid trains should be kept. However, if most people think the table is too complicated, I have an idea of replacing the existing four columns for the rapid trains with one integrated column. --Sushiya (talk) 13:04, 14 April 2008 (UTC)

- That would seem more reasonable to me. Also, it doesn't seem necessary to me to have 3 columns describing the local service as well. One column would suffice with small notes specifing that some trains enter the Tozai line at Nakano and that some Chuo-line (orange) trains run on the Sobu tracks in the early morning and late night. Also, limited express information seems to be lacking from the table. It seems to me that a 3-column layout would be best (local-rapid trains (with more detail on the Rapid line page)-limited express). Paullb (talk) 02:31, 15 April 2008 (UTC)
