Château La Tour du Pin Figeac is a winery in the Saint-Émilion Appelation of Bordeaux, France and is currently owned by Jean-Michel Moueix.

[edit] The Vineyard

The sand and gravel vineyards are planted in Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Foliage is partially removed to increase sunlight reaching the grapes to promote flavor, the ripe fruit harvested by hand, the juice is fermented in vats, and the wine is aged for 12-18 months in one-third new oak barrels before bottling.

The Château produces two red wines

  • The grand vin Château La Tour du Pin Figeac was, until recently, listed as a Grand Cru Classé wine in the Classification of Saint-Émilion wine, but lost this status in 2006 (the classification is reviewed every 10 years).
  • The second wine produced is Clos La Fleur Figeac

Château La Tour du Pin Figeac wines should not be confused with those from the unrelated Château Figeac. These wines are also produced in St-Émilion but carry the rank of 'Premier Grand Cru Classé (Class B)'.

Château La Tour du Pin Figeac wine should also not be confused with those from the unrelated 'Château La Tour Figeac'. These wines are also produced in St-Émilion but carry the rank of 'Grand Cru Classé'.

In all, there are 151 châteaux in France with Figeac in their names.
