This article should not be deleted because Cesar Gracie is involved in a historic event (California's first sanctioned MMA event).[1] Additionally, Cesar is a member of the Gracie family, which is perhaps the most celebrated family in the history of the Ultimate Fighting Championship and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.

Gracie has only one professional MMA match, which he lost to Frank Shamrock. He was also 14-0 in Brazilian vale tudo competition.

[edit] Not real Gracie?

it says in the article that There is a bit of controversy surrounding Cesar though. First are the claims that he is not a "real" Gracie family member. His mother was born into the Gracie family and his father was not, but he uses the Gracie name in order to reap the benefits associated with them. I'm sure Cesar benefits at least a little from the Gracie name, but I don't see anyone arguing about Roger Gracie not being a real Gracie? (Roger's mother is a Gracie, not his father Mauricio Motta Gomes). Cesar's mother (Sonja Gracie) and Roger's mother (Reila Gracie) are sisters.

[edit] WP:BLP

This article was a weird mix of glowing complements about Gracie's DVDs and accent and attacks on Gracie's credibility. Both, especially the attacks, had to go per WP:BLP, asap. That unfortunately had to cause me to delete 80% of the prose, but the policy is very clear on the matter. hateless 07:49, 11 April 2007 (UTC)
